Duchess

Duchess is a young spayed female who was was neglected, abused and
finally abandoned at a local Animal Control. As a baby, it is most likely that she was kept in an extremely small cage and got very little exercise. As a result, her front legs didn't strengthen properly, and she suffered a break in her back leg below the knee. She was also severely malnourished, which caused a bacterial infection in her GI system.

Despite her bleak start in life, Duchess is a delightful, happy bunny. Her leg is healed and she runs and jumps like the best of them, even if there is a little duck waddle to her hop! She has been treated for her bacterial infection and does well on a diet of Timothy hay and pellets, with very occasional treats of celery, red leaf lettuce or parsley. The biggest issue Dutchess faces is that she urinates on her blankets, resulting in the need for twice-daily butt baths to prevent urine scald.

Duchess is very friendly and gets along great with other bunnies. She needs to be adopted into a loving home with a person who is well experienced with indoor rabbits and who can handle the extra work required with a special needs rabbit. Dutchess loves attention and will allow you to wrap her in a blanket like a baby. She will sleep for an hour or more in your lap or even your bed before scratching at her blanket as a sign that she is ready to go back to her space.

Duchess doesn't attend Adoption Days unless prior arrangements are made. If you are interested in providing the love and care that Duchess deserves, please contact Kimberly.
